LED HDTV Review Samsung 50EH5300 The Affordable Smart TV! 18

Hi again to every reader who have follow for my website, Furniture and Vase Décor. This day I would like to review about the 50-inch Samsung’s EH5300 LED HDTV, the smart TV with affordable price. Apart from the detail and general specification of the 50-inch Samsung’s EH5300 LED HDTV, I also collect price and rating from various stores on internet to allow to get the best price and best service on this LED HDTV. I hope my article can give an useful information for you to find the great HDTV to your home.

Overview :

The 50-inch Samsung’s EH5300 comes out with the charming price of $799.99 while the prior model EH5000 is at $749.99. The question is how difference between the EH5000 and EH5300?

Level up from 50-inch EH5000 series, with a hundred bucks more you’ll get the 50-inch EH5300 with Samsung’s Smart Hub added, internet access and simple, intuitive menus. I think this is a very good deal for the 50-inches EH5300. Now let’s see the review that why I say it’s a good deal.

+ Great color and contrast.   + Inexpensive for a smart TV.   – Narrow viewing angle.

(the review is also available for the same model with different sizes which are UN32EH5300, UN40EH5300, UN46EH5300 and UN50EH5300)

Design

The Look and Design :

The series 5tvs of Samsung may not as slim as the ES series but we still believe that you’ll like the glossy black look with an oval stand without swivel.

Setting up easy and certainly it comes with features simple port and controls placement. You’ll find it goes smoothly to any room of yours.

Connectivity

Connectivity :

The EH5300 has a reasonable selection of connectivity options but still can’t compare to the higher models.

Standart port is still on right side at the back of the tv (same as EH5000). At the side port which you’ll often use includes (1) HDMI input and (2) USB inputs.

At the back you’ll have 2 more HDMI inputs and also a shared component/composite input, LAN input, analog and digital audio out and a 3.5 mm input for headphones. In addition it provides an EX-Link port in order to update software in the future.

Performance

Overall Performance :

UN50EH5300 has many capabilities such as fairly deep blacks, really bright white, excellent maximum contrast ratio (it meets the HDTV color’s international standards). It has decent motion and uniformity. Moreover it ‘s very cheap to pay the electricity bill side of things. In short, Most of its content is fine except for its viewing angle. So, it is not appropriate for large group of viewers.

Picture Quality :

After the test, we found pictures dynamics, remarkable contrast and admirable color integrity.

Contrast :

The contrast ratio is 4776:1, astonishingly ranked our third of the three from LCD HDTVs we compared. The result which a bit under 5000:1 is really good, also with full black and white differentiation.

Color and grayscale :

Ramping smooth, all fronts show uniform curves as seen by the chart,

Black line (0-255 greyscale spectrum) is perfect, with red green and blue hardly missing the mark. We found excellent result with wide spectrum of accurately depicted colors.

Color Temperature :

The following graph illustrates the ability of the EH5300 to maintain a constant color temperature for the entire range of input light. The gray box that surrounds most of the blue (cold) temperature changes represents the limit imperceptibility. Only the tips blue or orange exceeding beyond the window (technically, a deviation of + / -200 ° K over the range of intensities) will be visible to humans. In short, this is a very good result, with very little perceptible deviation of color temperature.

A bit of perceptible color temperature deviation we found it is a very good result.

Color Gamut :

This is the most important color test for the review. EH5300’s gamut was unfortunately its weak point. The green and the white are good but the rest, blue and red, both are oversaturated. Anyway, this is not a very big deal.

Picture Dynamics :

We found excellent picture dynamics with the test results as follows: Between a 90% and a 5% black screen, the EH5300 tested with a black level of 0.05 cd/m2 ,Between a 100% and a 5% white screen, its luminosity varied by only 0.47 cd/m2 ,You wouldn’t notice any deviation

Screen Performance :

narrow viewing angle, but it has decent motion performance and screen uniformity

Resolution & Formats :

It is a native 1080p TV with all NTSC resolutions and formats support.

Viewing Angle :

Given 45 degree to be the everage, few people would watch comfortably in medium-size room. Adding more viewers, they would find some decreased contrast performance.

Motion Performance :

As mentioned, EH5300 has decent motion performance, some blur, struggled with mild interlacing and shape distortion.

Screen Uniformity :

Superb screen uniformity (above average), but a thicker bazel (than Samsung’s higher end) may creates some shadow.

Audio Quality :

The Samsung EH5300 comes with 2 ten-watt speakers as standard and the quality is average.

We found standard quality for the speakers, not so good but not too bad. It has 5 modes: Standard, Music, Movie, Clear Voice, and Amplify. We recommend movie mode for the best.

The Samsung EH5300 has 2 sound setting given, SRS TruSurround HD, a surround sound imitator, and SRS TruDialog, which is meant to boost and clarify dialogue during content. But as mentioned, series 5 and its built-in sound equalizer sure meets standard.

Energy Saving

Power Consumption :

The Samsung UN50EH5300 is a real energy saving, use less electricity power at all.

4-6 hours use per day, for a year will cost only $15-$20. as seen from the chart. Samsung EH5300 series only add few dollars more than EH5000 series. Moreover, it’s cheaper than Toshiba and way cheaper than Insignia.

Video modes :

You’ll have 4 modes which are: Dynamic, Standard, Natural, and Movie.

Video Modes

Mode

Meaning

Dynamic

Dynamic mode is a video mode that focuses on high brightness and vivid colors, favoring a cool color temperature.

Standard

Standard mode is a video mode meant to be optimal for most content. It favors a neutral color temperature. This is also Samsung's branded "energy saving" mode.

Natural

Natural mode makes higher use of smoothing and ambient lighting effects than other modes, favoring a more muted, relaxed brightness and color combination.

Movie

Movie mode favors contrast and color accuracy over vividness or brightness. It uses a warm color temperature.

Internet Feature

Software & Internet :

simple, intuitive menus and immediate access to the Smart Hub (internet based platform), menus are designed to facilitate and simplify for users to access to their social networks, TV, movies, music, a web browser, and a generous collection of apps and widgets.

Apps & Internet Features :

Even navigating on the web browser is not our favorite but we still love the rest of the smart hub.

Browser :

Samsung’s web browser is good, which defaults to Bing.com. But not  that fun to navigate especially with the remote control, not admirable.

Samsung’s built in web browser loads speedily, but navigating it by remote control you must have a lot of forbearance.

Apps :

Wide variety of apps (games, TV, movies, 3d content, etc) mostly free or cheap. Fast downloading and simply organize.

Samsung  has variety of the best apps-for-TV stores on the market right now.

Software & Interface :

Perfect combination of intuitive simple menus.

Menu Interface :

Easy use by separating menu in six parts.
Picture– adjust TV looks.
Sound- adjust TV sounds.
Network– manage wired, or wireless, internet connection.
Channel– manage and add digital or analog cable channels.
System– set date, time, menu language, game mode and Support– help with any problems occur during use.

As shown below, Tools menu is a short cut for adjusting picture or sound pre-set. Useful and simple way if you want to check your connecting devices or any relating tasks.

The Tools menu helps you to make overall adjustments to your TV without entering the full menu.

Conclusion

Conclusion :

To be conclude, with this price $799.99, UN50EH5300 is really excellent choice. The performance and features are something that worth its value. You’ll get the big screen, great contrast and color, decent motion and audio performance, and access to Samsung’s useful smart platform.

If you are looking for TV with really good price and also comes with all the performance and features needed as available on the higher end models (such as internet features, smart TV) Then this is your choice.
